Live and Not Quite Ready

Instagram has had a fun update in regards to it’s “Live” platform. Instagram announced that it would roll out a “practice” function, allowing those unfamiliar with the platform to have a quick go before jumping in. If you’re like me, then this is a welcomed feature, as getting familiar with something before broadcast does take a large weight off the mind.

Additionally, Instagram has also rolled out a “Schedule” feature, allowing businesses to show upcoming live streams on their platform, which adds a little extra free promotion for the stream on profiles.

Becoming Fast Friends

MacDonald’s is the latest company to dive into customer loyalty programs via their App, and it appears to be going well! According to Marketing Week, the fast food chain is trialling the MyMcDonald’s scheme in 10 restaurants in the UK following a successful US launch.

This investment into loyalty should excite small businesses in all sectors. As we know, retaining customers is cheaper than recruiting new customers, so it’s worthwhile keeping customers on board and rewarding them for their loyalty.

Let’s get out of the Box.

B2B marketing has usually been the boring, more mature older brother of B2C marketing, but things are changing. At the recent B2B World Fest, held by The Drum in partnership with global B2B agency Stein IAS, Creativity in B2B marketing was a point of discussion.

As millennials and Gen Zers start gaining purchasing power, the dynamic of buying for business will change. Plus, more and more options are springing up. Getting creative with messaging, channels and sales collateral is going to be vital to standing out from the crowd.

LinkedIn Links Up

According to Microsoft’s latest performance update, Linkedin had a great year. Last Quarter, LinkedIn engagements across the platform rose by 22%, showing the platform is still an amazing place for careers and businesses.

Small businesses who aren’t utilising the platforms should hop on it. Even if your customers aren’t there yet, there are still plenty of suppliers, agencies and industry influencers who are looking for businesses to work with or promote, with some willing to promote your business for free.
